In Performance at the White House:
Spirit of the Season
As lead designer, I developed the visual identity for the WETA PBS broadcast and event materials,
including key art, animated maps, signage, and motion graphics to capture the elegance and warmth of the holidays through refined, festive design.
In Performance at the White House: Spirit of the Season was a holiday celebration hosted by President Joe Biden
and Dr. Jill Biden, featuring musical performances filmed in the White House’s most iconic rooms,
beautifully decorated for the season.
The program aired on December 21, 2021, sharing the joy and spirit of the season with audiences nationwide.
Visual Inspiration and Tone
My inspiration for this project came from my White House ornament collection, a gift from my mother-in-law when I first moved to this country. The ornaments are elegant and full of history, and I wanted to capture that same beauty and holiday joy in my design.
Christmas is my favorite time of year, and I hoped to share that feeling through this artwork.

Illustrations of the Rooms
(Map Transitions)
Each illustrated room served as a visual map transition in the broadcast, guiding viewers through the White House as performances moved between spaces.
The goal was to transport the audience and provide spatial context in a visually charming way.
Print and Digital Assets
Event materials, including name tags and DVD packaging, extended the key art’s design to ensure a cohesive look across all touchpoints. The campaign also reached audiences digitally through ads across PBS platforms and digital bus kiosks throughout the DMV area, featuring festive elements and adaptable layouts to maintain visual consistency.
